EU INFO center book "Corporate lobbying in the European Union"

In the EU Info Center was presented the book "Corporate lobbying in the European Union" by the author Marko Drajić. One of the speakers was President of CEDEF, prof. Ana Bovan, as one of the reviewers, and on the promotion she presented several theses about the book, about lobbying in the EU and Serbia. Other reviewers of the book are Slovenian professor and longtime lobbyist from Brussels, prof. Boris Cizelj and PhD Nenad Vasić. Biljana Stepanović, editor-in-chief of New Economy and co-founder, Jelica Minić, President of the European Movement Serbia and Branko Greganović, President of the IO NLB Bank, spoke at the promotion.

Prof. Bovan explained that our companies and businessmen can lobby in the EU through the state or European sectoral or espionage associations and that the previous single attempts has not proved to be so successful. Therefore, according to her, Mark Drajić's book is significant because it indicates that a decision-making process that is complex, rules, procedures and technical knowledge of the area for which it is lobbying, should be known. She particularly emphasized that it is important to know people

who have specific value, knowledge and contacts to make lobbying successful. The EU Info Center room was full of interested visitors and media that are important and relevant to this topic.

Minister Trivan pointed out the importance of lobbying in the field of ecology

Minister of Environmental Protection, Mr. Goran Trivan attended on November 22nd 2017 the 50th anniversary of the Serbian Lobbysts Association, which was dedicated to the issue of environmental protection as a factor for attracting investments and improving the international position of Serbia.

Minister Trivan pointed out that in Serbia there is still a false perception of lobbying, but it is more than necessary in the area of environment today, because lobbying enables better flow of right information, knowledge and strengthening of competences. In the area of environment Serbia is waiting for big investments, and this requires lobbyists who are ready to help this area to enter into the public's focus and the focus of the decision-makers.

The establishment of the Ministry of Environmental Protection can play a significant role in achieving the set goals and represents a good example of lobbying for a topic that has become national and where we can all contribute, regardless of differences.

Minister Goran Trivan and working presidency: dr Radivoj Kocić, Mr. Nenad Vuković, prof. Ana Bovan

The magazine Senate with the main message: "Europe needs Serbia" under the theme "Local Community Challenges - Opportunities for embracing technologies" it was pointed out that the local communities have more capacity and readiness for the sake of the largest foreign partners, and the type of entrepreneurial thinking separates the successful from the other cities. Serbia is well on the way of catching up with this trend and assuming its proper position in Europe where it belongs, while its cities and municipalities play an increasingly important role in achieving this goal and helping Serbia become a new investment destination. Within its program “Leaders of Sustainable Development”, linking the investment community with Serbian cities and municipalities, CEDEF has created a database of almost 1,000 active local projects in different areas, such as energy, energy efficiency, renewable energy sources, transport and infrastructure. Most importantly, this has resulted in an active cooperation among cities, municipalities, international companies and investors, in order to create new partnerships from which all participants can provide long-term benefits, said President CEDEF prof. dr Ana Bovan.
